Modern Ranch Living Anchored by the Landscape
Designed by Furman + Keil Architects, this 5,200-square-foot home unfolds gently down its Spicewood, Texas landscape,, and opens itself to panoramic views of the surrounding hill country.
At its core, the home blends modern comfort and refinement with the straightforward, honest material language of a ranch.
In addition to the three-bedroom main house and guesthouse, the project includes several distinct building elements. Each is positioned in response to the landscape and its views, while contributing to a cohesive overall composition.
Practical elements—dog runs, carports, cattle fencing, and cisterns—are not hidden but embraced, grounding the design in its regional roots. The result is a house that feels both elevated and deeply authentic.
The rhythm of wood trusses and purlins in the main living area is expressed throughout the interior, designed by Ashby Collective.
The kitchen is conceived as a painted wood clad building inside the larger main volume.
